Overview:

Starting a business is not for the faint hearted. RCSA commends those taking this leap of faith and is proud to announce the Get Set...Go Series supporting new recruitment agencies with practical advice given by those who have been through a similar experience. Through one and a half hours of open forum Q & A and peer sharing, RCSA Get Set...Go! aims to provide new agency owners with the Who, What, When, Where, and How of starting a successful recruitment business.

We invite you to join the next complimentary session of series, hosted by RCSA’s Chief Executive Charles Cameron and featuring a new panel of sterling start-up expert members, where they will cover industry essential knowledge with handy tips, tricks, detailed risks and rewards through experienced trial and error. The panellists are committed to sharing candidly their own unique and relevant examples and each of their success stories which looks to assist start-ups operating in the recruitment and staffing space. Session 2 will also touch on the personal side of owning a business and mental health awareness.

On the 21st May RCSA presented ‘Get Set...Go!’, the first session of the series -  Hosted by Charles Cameron, RCSA’s Chief Executive, joined by Panellists, Tony Wu - Weploy, Emily McLeod - WOW Recruitment and Shane Morgan -Sapture. The session navigated the challenging journey of starting up a recruitment agency, offering each of the panelist's unique stories and experiences, giving insight into why they have made the decisions they have made to get them where they are today. Charles joined the RCSA as Chief Executive in May 2016, and since that time has established the foundations for an employment services certification scheme which will define professional service providers within the marketplace in Australia and New Zealand for years to come.

Before taking on the role of Chief Executive, Charles was an equity Partner with FCB, Australia’s largest dedicated workplace legal and consulting firm, prior to which he founded and grew his own consulting firm which specialised in lobbying and risk management within the recruitment and employment services industry. He gained invaluable experience working with IPA, one of Australia’s most established recruitment firms, where he was the Workplace Relations and Safety Manager as well as 7 years working as an Advisor and Advocate for Australian Industry Group. In addition to his successful professional services career he founded a tech start up in 2006, which continues to successfully service the recruitment market today.

Meet your panelist: Leanne O'Connor


 

Leanne O’Connor
Director and Founder Natural Selection Group

Leanne began her IT career in 1993 after completing a Bachelor of Information Technology, and subsequently spent 10 years in IT consulting roles. Soon after, Leanne brought together her substantial commercial IT experience to establish Australia’s most successful SAP resourcing business, which she operated for 21 years. Following her philanthropic ambitions, Leanne founded Natural Selection Group in 2016, a socially responsible IT resourcing business, to fuel her continued passion for recruitment and people, while helping others who are less fortunate. Outside of Natural Selection Group, she is involved in several other entrepreneurial and philanthropic causes, including running her own private charitable foundation.

Tom Woods 
Director, and namesake of Woods & Co.

Tom's professional journey started with extensive experience within the hospitality industry, becoming a general manager of a prominent Melbourne nightclub. This background in managing staff and patrons alike, developed Tom's passion and ability to effectively communicate and connect with a diverse range of stakeholders. In an attempt to shift his working hours away from the wee hours of the AM, Tom moved towards a different people centric industry being Recruitment in 2014. Experiencing a steep learning curve over the next four years working for a leading Recruitment agency, gave Tom great experience in the processes required to successfully foster end-to-end recruitment for businesses. Ultimately, Tom's entrepreneurial drive led him to team up with two partners to open Woods & Co Recruitment in 2018.

Meet your panelist: Amanda Woodforde



Amanda Woodforde 
Director and Founder of Woodforde Group

Amanda has extensive industry experience having worked in the recruitment space for over 13 years here in Australia where she specialised in the Human Resources, Business Support and Customer Service sectors. Amanda has managed, built, trained and grown teams of recruitment consultants within an international recruitment firm Australia wide. Amanda founded her own firm in February 2021 specialising in Business Support, HR and Customer Service, offering both a temporary and permanent solution. Her clients span across Australia with placements in nearly every state. With two young children, Amanda has a passion for assisting working parents with their return to the work force post parental leave as well as diversity and inclusion.
