COVID-19 Pushing through Adversity

Overview:

It is safe to say the global COVID-19 pandemic has hit every industry with the same common economic problems. Its domino effect will impact everyone from small businesses to large corporates and sole traders. With so much uncertainty it’s difficult to know what to do or where to turn.

RCSA invites all Members, recruitment business owners and or managers to join a Who will Survive and Who Won’t discussion. Here is your chance to ask questions that may have been grappling you these past weeks, join the community to understand what might be ahead and how to survive and maybe even thrive.

Hosted by industry veterans Sophie Robertson, FRCSA, Janice McNab, FRCSA (Life) and Nigel Harse, FRCSA and Moderated by James Witcombe, RCSA Ambassador and Council Member, join them in an conversation that will offer some practical advice so your business has every chance of surviving the COVID-19 pandemic.

RCSA are taking your questions now, at time of registration pre-submit by completing the question field.  Otherwise RCSA looks forward to hearing from you during our go-live video session.

Meet your Presenters:

Sophie Robertson, FRCSA worked in the recruitment industry in Australia for 18 years. Her positions ranged from Consultant to General Manager and Business Development Director. Career highlights include rapid promotion from Consultant to Branch Manager, where Sophie ran the most profitable branch out of 30 branches nationally for five consecutive years, securing major accounts e.g. David Jones Ltd, Samsung Electronics and Asics Tiger to name a few. Sophie's expertise lies in selling, growing and managing major accounts for sustained profit regardless of the general economy. Her relationship building skills are second to none.  Sophie founded Younique Coaching in 2007 and now provides training, coaching and mentoring to recruiters and recruitment business owners in the areas of Business Development, Recruitment and Leadership.

Nigel Harse, FRCSA is a highly regarded and widely sought after for his knowledge, unwavering passion and innovation, Nigel is a 40-year veteran of the recruitment industry. After spending the first 10 years of his career in the UK working his way up from temp desk to director, Nigel arrived in Australia in the early 90's as CEO of Ecco Personnel. Under his leadership, the multi-national firm gained unrivalled success. He moved on to the board of Catalyst Recruitment as non-executive Director before founding RIBreport in 2003. As an industry advisor, mentor and coach, Nigel soon learned leaders wanted to know how they compared to their peers. RIBreport provided the answers with a monthly unbiased perspective on the health of staffing and recruitment firms. Nigel takes great pride in now taking this model online and vastly expanding the offering to staffing and recruitment firms across the globe

Janice McNab, FRCSA (Life) is General Manager of TradeStaff, New Zealand and was awarded RCSA Life Membership in 2018.  Janice is the organisation's matriarch – a woman who started 20 years ago at Tradestaff ground zero and has since been instrumental in driving the business to where it is today. Both respected and beloved by her employees and colleagues, Janice has had a profound effect on the culture, growth and success of Tradestaff over the years.   Janice has developed so much over the past 20 years - it's been less about her keeping up with the company and more about the company keeping up with her - however what she is most proud of professionally, the challenges and opportunities she sees ahead for those working in New Zealand’s staffing and recruitment industries. Janice believes there is plenty of scope for industry participants to “promote adoption of best practice and to rise above the noise”.

James Witcombe, is a forward thinking agency recruiter and Director at SMAART Recruitment, joining SMAART as its first employee in 2005. An RCSA Council member, James is passionate about corporate social responsibility and how it can be used as a tool to also improve the image of recruiters. Leadership & Giving Back – how grass roots activity delivers positive change and improves recruiters image Type “Recruiters are” into Google and see what comes up…. our image isn’t great. Regardless of all the good work we do, a lot of the business community feels different. #MeetARecruiter is an initiative developed in Australia by James Witcombe and Matthew Sampson to “give back” to jobseekers and elevate the perception of recruiters at the same time. With over 600 people registering for the most recent event, giving back is a great (and easy) way for recruiters to “do good” and let the market know. Learn how you can easily apply something similar in your own community or country.
