WorkSafe New Zealand Safety Check-Up

WorkSafe New Zealand
Safety Check-Up

Overview:

RCSA members are invited to join a webinar with WorkSafe New Zealand to discuss current work health and safety (WHS) trends in the on-hire sector.

WorkSafe has advised it is seeing an increase in the number of incorrect or incomplete host-site risk assessments in recent times.    This webinar will support you in ensuring you have the most current information regarding your health and safety obligations when it comes to on-hire workers.

WorkSafe will discuss, in detail, its expectations around how risk assessments should be completed and what members should be looking for, and asking, when attending host-sites.

RCSA recommends that all New Zealand members attend this webinar live or register to receive the recording, so you can be confident you are performing at best-practice levels in relation to work health and safety requirements, and supporting the safest possible working environment for your employees.

The live delivery of this webinar will be on Thursday, 25 August 2022 at 11:00am - 12:00pm NZT

Meet the facilitator: Melanie Dale & Mark Horgan, WorkSafe

Melanie is a Strategic Engagement Lead with WorkSafe New Zealand for the last 3 years, her primary portfolio is COVID and it was the construction portfolio. Melanie’s background is in political relationship management and local government, with a specialisation in road safety and transport.
In her role at WorkSafe she is responsible for the strategic direction for her portfolio, guiding the organisation to develop stronger and more meaningful relationships, to deliver better health and safety outcomes from leadership within high risk areas.

Mark Horgan began at WorkSafe 3 ½ years ago as an investigator, his primary role was to investigate serious harm incidents and fatalities, prior to joining WorkSafe he spent 13 years running a business selling and consulting to businesses on machine safety.

Mark is passionate about ensuring that lessons are learnt from past incidents to prevent other people from experiencing the trauma of workplace incidents. He walks the fine line between education and prosecution wanting to ensure that the solution provides the best outcome for workers.
