Reach your finance goals with Adrienne Zwarts

07 June 2022

For the past three years, Financial Adviser Adrienne Zwarts  with RCSA NZ sponsor the Abbott Group, and FANZ, has been providing support and advice to RCSA members, guiding them through their financial journeys.

She’s got 30 years’ of financial tips and tricks up her sleeve and uses them generously to help her clients reach their financial goals.

In this RCSA Member Update, Adrienne provides insight into her world and debunks misconceptions about KiwiSaver.

You and your team have worked closely with our RCSA membership over the past three years. What do you personally enjoy in your interactions with our member community? What key benefits do you see for RCSA members through the Abbott Group alliance?

I enjoy assisting clients of all ages and stages to achieve their financial vision through goals-based advice.

The key benefit is that RSCA members have access to a Financial Adviser who can assist with their longer-term needs.

What is your role at the Abbott Group and what do you enjoy most about it?

I wear two hats at the Abbott Group. With my FANZ hat on, I provide financial planning, including KiwiSaver and longer-term investment planning.

I also provide mortgage broking services for clients. I know how to place tricky or more complex lending.

Are there any misconceptions about KiwiSaver or (another key part of your role) that you would like to debunk?

I think many people don’t fully understand KiwiSaver and how to make it work for them. The best thing to do is have a conversation. It’s your money, your retirement and it’s got to work for you.

Depending on your retirement plans, you may need other longer-term investments to complement your KiwiSaver.

A Financial Adviser can recommend a plan with a mix of KiwiSaver and other investment options to help you reach your future financial goals.

What about your time outside of work? What do you enjoy doing? What are you deeply passionate about?

I love to garden and having just sold our home and downsized, I have a lot of work ahead of me to establish the garden on a new build. So, once again, I am in planning mode to sort out the types of plants and style of garden we wish to establish.

Our first grandchild, Millie, has just arrived so we will enjoy spending time with her teaching her all the naughty things, before handing her back to Mum and Dad!

I am currently training to become a Justice of the Peace.

While this isn’t the forum to provide “financial advice” as such, is there a mantra or piece of wisdom you’d like to share?

The sooner you start to understand your financial situation, the better off you will be. Start early, put a little away every week and let compounding interest do the rest.

When it comes to financial advice, there is no such thing as a ‘dumb’ question. Reach out and ask for advice.
