The Billing Manager - Cornerstones of Leadership

Purpose:

The Billing Manager – Cornerstones of Leadership involves a deep exploration into how we operate effectively as leaders (it is not prescriptive). The sessions are highly interactive in nature and support leaders in refining their personal approach to leading and achieving results through others. We build on each participant's experience and help them expand the leadership options available to them.

Some of the themes you will work with include:

Conscious and structured; leaders approaching their people leadership role in a conscious and structured manner (whilst balancing the other demands of their role).

Performance, growth, and resilience; proactively building the capability and performance of your people

Autonomy, agency & achievement; ensuring your people are empowered to contribute ideas, work autonomously, support their team, and strive for quality outcomes

Engagement and belonging; creating high levels of engagement and ownership in your people

Leadership self-reflection and awareness; leaders developing greater awareness of the impact of their leadership style (helpful and unhelpful)

Coaching for capability and performance; coaching in a manner that results in lasting change, and rapid learning and performance improvement

Conversational leadership; leaders developing in-depth communication skills (language, listening, questioning, empathy, handling various situations and conversations, setting limits, dealing early with challenges, getting their message across)

Course Structure & Program Delivery:

There is a very strong focus on participants ‘taking action’ on the job to improve their leadership outcomes. To support this, the program consists of multiple components:

1.  Leadership vision and goals for growth; before session #1, participants formulate a personal leadership profile (what they wish to be known for and role model). This includes identifying the core leadership qualities and skills they wish to excel in. They are encouraged to discuss their conclusions with their manager.

2.  Inclusion of participants managers: each participants manager is copied in on key emails. They are also provided with a Leaders Guide to Integration. These emails and guide ensure managers are across the content being covered, and are supported in working with their participant.

3.  Practical Sessions: a series of four x 4.5-hour development sessions spread over several weeks. All content is based on direct experience – there is no theory.

4.  Creating personal action plans: throughout the program participants create their own detailed personal action plan. They are prompted to discuss their actions and insights with their manager post each session.

5.  Recommended actions: post each session, participants receive ‘Recommended Actions’ that will deepen their learning and insights. Participant managers are copied on these also

6.   Application between sessions: participants are required to take practical action between each session. At the start of sessions, participants are asked to share their experience, insights, and the changes they have made.

7.  Reading and resources; participants are encouraged to review various recommended books, articles, and videos that will deepen their level of awareness and insight.

8.  Integration Session: Roughly 8 to 10 weeks after the 4th session, we conduct an Integration Session where participants are asked to share the actions they have taken, new results achieved, and the insights they have gained. This helps participants integrate what they have learnt. A detailed guide is provided to support them in this process.

9.   Development leadership group: participants are connected to other leaders participating in the program. This aids self-reflection, sharing of experience, and deeper learning and insights

RCSA Billing Manager Attendee Testimonials:

Cornerstones of Leadership with John White gave me a simple, repeatable framework to reset how I lead our billing team. The focus on clarity of expectations and quality feedback helped me structure 1:1s and set boundaries that protect time and standards. I introduced a weekly rhythm with clear priorities and Start/Stop/Continue check ins, which has lifted engagement and reduced second guessing. The tools for holding people to account with empathy have made tough conversations calmer and more productive. Since completing the course, we’re collaborating more smoothly with sales and operations, and I feel more confident guiding the team through busy periods. - Angelique Rahme, Team Leader & Senior Recruitment Consultant @ Ochre Recruitment

Having recently attended John White’s Billing Manager course I can completely and honestly recommend it. John is highly experienced, and this comes across in his approach and style. The content is extremely relevant and well delivered, and John has a wonderful ability to get everyone engaged and thinking about how to best utilise the learning in their own contexts, and believe me, there is so much that you will use. I got so much out of this, and look forward to continue putting it into practise to drive the performance of my team. - Barry Hodson, Practice Manager @ SLADE GROUP

I’ve had the privilege of training with John on and off since 2005, and I can confidently say that you won’t find a more consultative, thought-provoking coach out there. His ability to recall scenario-based experiences is truly impressive—his memory banks are borderline obscene (in the best possible way)!
What truly sets John apart from others in the industry (and I’ve worked with a few over my 25 years in the field) is how he doesn’t simply tell you what to do. Instead, he arms you with an artillery of suggestions that unlock your own inner potential. He guides you to discover solutions and approaches you might not have considered, which results in real, lasting growth.
If you're looking for a trainer who can push you to the next level and help you unlock your true potential, John is the one to work with. - Sam Needs, Director,  Northern Region @ Emanate Technology

The Billing Manager Course came at a great time for me as a leader. It not only taught me a lot of useful skills, but it also allowed to me to self reflect and make some necessary changes. I have now put a lot of what John taught us into practice and when taking on any new hires it will be something I utilise from their first day.
John was an excellent trainer; his sessions were interactive and well organised. The final integration session was also a good follow up to hear how the rest of the group had progressed.
It was great to meet other recruiters, who have varied years of experience and who are going through similar situations.
I would recommend this course to anyone who is juggling both roles of billing and growing/leading a team. - Abi Short, Account Management Team Leader @ Engineering Networks
