Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid
**Workshop is confirmed and at capacity**

Overview:

According to Mental Health First Aid, one in five Australians will experience a mental health problem in any given year.  People who experience mental health come from diverse backgrounds and those in senior roles in the workplace often feel uncomfortable and unprepared when thinking about starting a mental health conversation with someone they are concerned about.

We invite leaders and/or senior roles in recruitment and staffing to join Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace program which aims to enhance your role as leaders extending support beyond the usual individual-focussed mental health solutions.  Learn how to recognise warning signs and develop the skills & capabilities to approach and support a colleague, family member while keeping yourself safe.

The live delivery of this workshop will be held across two sessions. Session 1 will be on Thursday 27 October 2022 at 10am - 12.30pm AEDT (Melbourne/Sydney time) and Session 2 will be on Friday 28 October 2022 at 10am - 12.30pm AEDT (Melbourne/Sydney time).

In addition to the live workshops, participants will need to complete pre-learning modules. These eLearning modules have a time commitment of a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 7 hours.

Learning Objectives:

Participants of this workshop will learn:
  • The signs and symptoms of common disabling mental health problems in adults and how to provide initial help
  • Where and how to get professional help
  • What sort of help has shown by research to be effective in a first aid crisis

Who Should Attend:

RCSA has a three pillar learning model. This model allows individuals to identify the best L&D content for them based on their level of experience in the recruitment & staffing industry. This workshop has been identified as 'Extend'. For more information about our pillars, see the Learning & Development page of our website.

Meet the facilitator:

Sinead of Insightful Minds has gathered a wealth of therapeutic experience across her career supporting organisations delivering Workplace Mental Health Training which encourages organisations to support knowledge in what is fast becoming one of the most important aspects to employee job satisfaction and staff retention.

Broadly, Sinead has supported The Salvation Army on a youth drug and alcohol program and Mission Australia as program manager for an adult mental health service and participants who join Sinead’s workshops immediately recognise her passion as a facilitator where each session is to remove some of the stigma around mental health and ensure it’s a part of more workplace conversations.
