BIG TALK with the Fair Work Ombudsman, Sandra Parker PSM

 

Overview:

BIG TALK provides an invaluable opportunity for RCSA Members to engage in small talk on big issues with key external stakeholders and decision makers.

Following a brief address from the Fair Work Ombudsman, Charles Cameron will facilitate a Q&A session between members and Sandra Parker PSM.

RCSA is keen to ensure that BIG TALK is a member-led engagement series, so we ask that you consider any questions you have for the Fair Work Ombudsman and share them with us in advance of the event.

We will call on members during the session to ask their question of Sandra directly. 

If you have a question but do not wish to ask it yourself, please let us know when you submit and Charles can ask it on your behalf.

Meet the Fair Work Ombudsman, Sandra Parker PSM:

Sandra Parker PSM was appointed as the Fair Work Ombudsman on 15 July 2018 for a 5 year term.

Sandra began her career in education with secondary teaching roles in Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and in London. She holds Bachelor of Education from the University of Tasmania and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is also an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the Australia New Zealand School of Government.

In her early roles in Government, Sandra was the head of the Office of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council and a senior  executive at the Commonwealth Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. She also held various policy and program management positions in the vocational education and training field, at both Commonwealth and State Government levels.

Prior to her appointment as Fair Work Ombudsman, Sandra served as a Deputy Secretary at the Department of Jobs and Small Business and its predecessors for 8 years. She was Deputy Secretary, Employment Services and Deputy Secretary, Workplace Relations and Economic Strategy.
 

Meet Charles Cameron:

  

Charles Cameron joined RCSA as Chief Executive in May 2016.

Prior to joining RCSA, Charles was an Equity Partner with FCB, Australia's largest dedicated workplace legal and consulting firm, before which he founded and grew his own consulting firm which specialised in lobbying and risk management with the recruitment and employment services industry. He gained invaluable experience working with IPA, one of Australia's most established recruitment firms, where he was the Workplace Relations and Safety Manager, as well as 7 years working as an Advisor and Advocate for Australian Industry Group.

In additional to his successful professional services career, Charles founded a tech start up in 2006, which continues to successfully services the recruitment market today.
