Building Your Workplace Culture One Story at a Time

Building your Workplace Culture One Story at a Time

Overview:

If you google the definition of culture you will find that it is defined as “the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society.

” One of the most useful ways of identifying the ideas, customs and social behaviours of a workplace (or any other group of humans for that matter) is through listening for the stories that are told by the humans within that setting or group. The narratives that are told, and re-told, re-imagined and then told again are what can make or break any society or group of humans. It’s the stories we tell ourselves and those around us, that foster or hinder workplace culture.

So how do we harness the power of narrative to ensure our culture is full of stories that are aligned to the culture we want to be a part of and foster within our workplaces? How do we find and develop narratives that support a great place to work?

Join Leonie Green, Director at Corvus Group to understand how narrative creates or breaks workplace culture and how you can use narrative for good.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how workplace culture can be diagnosed through analysis of the individual and collective stories that are told by your employees
  • Learn ways to listen for the stories, to enable you to discover and diagnose the stories that may be holding your culture back or are not aligned to the culture you want to foster
  • Grain an appreciation for the ways you can create the culture you are wanting to foster through the use of narrative
  • Come away with some immediate actions that you can test out in your workplace to both listen for the narratives and shift the narratives as needed ?
