Strategic Workers Compensation Claim Management in Australia

Overview:

For recruitment and staffing professionals, workers compensation claims can be confusing and communicating with the injured worker, the WorkCover agency, and other relevant stakeholders, can be time-consuming.  Failure to strictly adhere to legislative compliance when processing claims forms, calculating wages and processing reimbursements can be costly . 

This practical session will focus on best practice in strategic workers compensation claim management. It will cover the basics of Australia's workers compensation obligations, effective claims management processes, and essential communication with insurers and healthcare providers. 

This training supports recruitment and staffing leaders, and senior roles responsible for supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of staff.  Learners will gain a foundational understanding of the claims process, supporting both compliance and proactive management in Australia.

Learning Objectives:

Participants of this workshop will learn: 
  • Basics of Australian Workers' Compensation obligations: Acquire a basic understanding of the jurisdictions governing workers' compensation in Australia, including key differences across states and territories.
  • Workers Compensation Claim Lifecycle: Complete a deep dive into the typical lifecycle of a claim from claim submission to claim closure.
  • Fundamentals of Claim Management: Learn the core principles of managing workers' compensation claims effectively within the Australian context. 
  • Communication Essentials: Develop fundamental communication skills for interacting with key stakeholders in workers' compensation cases, including employees, insurers, and healthcare providers.
  • Workers Compensation Claim Case Studies: Explore case studies & examples of successful claim management practices.

Meet the facilitator: Kathryn Drake  


Leading Health Path as the Principal Consultant is Kathryn Drake, a distinguished professional in the field of injury management and return-to-work strategies. 

With over a decade of experience in the Workers' Compensation industry, Kathryn has honed her expertise in managing complex, high-risk cases and developing effective return-to-work programs. 

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics, Return to Work Coordinator Training, and a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, complementing her practical experience. 

Kathryn is also a certified mental health first aid trainer, a qualification that allows her to provide mental health first aid training as a valuable service to Health Path clients.

  • All start and end times listed are displayed in Melbourne | Australian Eastern Standard/Daylight Time unless stated otherwise

Pricing:

  • Member registration to attend the workshop is $235.00 AUD plus GST per participant*
  • A group registration rate is available for a minimum of 5 registrations for members from the same organisation. To qualify for this rate, each of the 5 attendees must be registered at the time of booking at the group rate of $211.00 AUD plus GST per participant (minimum total $1055.00 AUD plus GST)

*NZ participants do not pay the GST
