At Talent X in May, dynamic duo Amy Towers and Kathryn Drake will take to the stage to deliver an engaging session all about syncing safety with success. The industry experts will dive into the essential elements of Workplace Health and Safety Prevention and Injury Management with a presentation tailored specifically to recruiters. The pair will touch on topics like managing the safety of your internal workforce and fostering the wellbeing of on-hire staff.
Amy Towers specialises in Workplace Health and Safety, specifically in the recruitment and staffing industry. For 15 years she has provided WHS advice and training through RCSA to its members. While the world of work has evolved during that time, one thing that hasn’t changed are the questions she regularly gets asked by recruiters.
“While the relationships with clients have become more complex, the challenges remain the same, explains Amy.
“The key things that on-hire businesses were having to do 15 years ago still exist today. The questions I am asked again and again are generally around the obligations agencies have to conduct client site assessments. I am always asked for clarity around if the laws only apply to casual employees. There seems to be a lot of confusion around where the responsibility lies.”
Over the years safety regulators have upped the ante, putting more focus on WHS practices and management than ever before. At Talent X, Amy and Kathryn will give the audience a crash course in what their WHS obligations are to ensure they protect themselves, their clients and their candidates. Each has their own field of expertise.
“While I work in WHS, Kathryn has 15 years’ experience as an Injury Management Consultant. She used to work with an insurer and specialises in worker’s compensation matters, including claims management and return to work planning. Together we can take the audience on a journey through the WHS and Injury Management process. From prevention, to examples of incidents that led to prosecution and the aftermath, including closing out a claim.
“It’s important that recruiters are aware of what can happen, so they have the tools to prevent a ‘worst case scenario’.”
While the content may be heavy, Amy and Kathryn have a very light presentation style, they are easy to follow, engaging and all about the facts.
